Preliminary Task

Preliminary Cover and Context Page Evaluation

The design for this cover and context page was based on two flat plans that I designed originally. It uses basic skills that I already know of however, I think that the cover doesn’t look as professional because I currently don’t have the skills to make the cover to professional standards. It looks very childlike with the colour scheme, so there for, for my actual media project I will look into the colour schemes that other professional music magazines use. So that I can incorporate a similar colour scheme into my own project. Also what the preliminary cover has shown me is the need to pick a suitable title font because that sets the type of magazine I am trying to create. What I think I did well in the first task is that I think the layout of the magazine was good but I could improve it by adding more information onto the cover as it looked quite plain. Also the images I used I took with my phone which lowered the quality of the images. So therefor I will learn how to use a professional camera to take the photos for my actual media project to raise the quality of my main project.

The context page is quite basic and uses a lot of fonts which make it look over crowded and unprofessional. For my main piece I will not use more than 3 fonts in order to keep it looking professional and not overcrowded.
